Information and Fees

Rates: My full fee is $190 per 55-60 minute session.

Payment: Payment is due at the time of service and can be made through check, cash, or credit card. If paying by check, please arrive with check already filled out to Alyssa Christensen.

Insurance: The Best Life counseling is a fee-for-service practice. For various reasons which can be discussed further, I do not accept insurance. However, if you have a PPO insurance plan, I am happy to provide you with a statement (“superbill”) to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. I encourage you to call your insurance company to obtain information regarding their reimbursement policy for mental health services.

FAQs:

What should I expect?

Should you make the decision to begin the therapeutic process, we will begin with a brief phone consultation to determine if we are a good fit. From there, we will schedule your first session which runs 60 minutes. Within the first session, I will be devoted to identifying your concerns, orienting you to the therapeutic process, and gaining a sense of history. We meet once or twice a week, or every other week as long as you wish to continue.

Is therapy for me?

Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or depressed? Are you feeling stuck in taking the next steps in your life? Do you have difficulty managing your emotional and mental well-being and want to improve? Or, you may be experiencing relational issues, whether it is within your relationship with your significant other, family member, or child. With these questions asked, there is no one answer for everyone and all of us are different and have unique needs. When life becomes challenging, it is important to know you are not alone. I can help you identify and explore your problem areas and find solutions that will improve the quality of your life. You probably want to seek help if you are experiencing any of these symptoms:

Feeling anxious, sad, or unable to get things accomplished.

Feeling hopeless about the future.

Feeling "stuck" or feel that life is out of control.

Finding relationships unsatisfying.

Finding yourself unable to find pleasure in activities previously found pleasurable.

If you have been feeling sad and helpless for a long time despite help from friends and family or your own efforts.

If you find yourself indulging in self-destructive behaviors such as drinking excessively, abusing drugs or prescriptions, or getting into fights with others.

How many sessions will it take to achieve my goals?

Due to the unique nature of therapy, every individual, every family, and every context is different, so there is no one prescribed course of therapy. How much you get out of therapy directly correlates with how much you put into it. I am here to assist you in your journey and find resources both internally nod eternally that bring change to your life outside of therapy. We will then decide together when healing and growth take place to the point of which therapy is no longer needed.

Mental Health vs Physical Health:

It has always been my belief that good mental health is just as important as physical health. Therapy is for everyone. You don't wait until you're unhealthy to maintain a healthy body; and you don't have to suffer before beginning to maintain a healthy mind. You may be in pain or may just want some personal growth. Whatever the reason, maintaining mental health is important and will help you discover a new way forward.
